actual true fact about corn - it takes a lot more physical square footage than you'd think. a lot of gardeners start a garden in hopes of being like, "i'm self-sufficient with only my backyard" and they want to plant corn, beans and squashes bc they physically and nutritionally complement each other and a corn/beans/squash diet is healthy and nutritionally complete. but corn has to be planted 10-12 inches apart, which when you only have like 12 square feet, that's not a lot of corn plants, so you're not gonna get many ears, and i guess what i'm saying is that farmers' jobs are safe for a little while longer
